This interactive video game explores the intersection of Otaku culture, escapism, and the quarter-life crisis. Inspired by her long-term indulgence in ACG (anime, manga, video games, etc) culture, as well as her 300 job applications failure story after graduating from college, the artist created an interview simulation game that requires interaction with an anime body pillow to proceed. The installation design immediately puts the audience into Otaku’s shoes and invites them to reflect on universal themes of how young adults seek comfort and connection in digital spaces among societal pressures and personal struggles through a playful presentation. The project also seeks to blur the boundaries between reality and virtuality, fostering a dialogue about the role of technology and community in modern emotional resilience.
